Ingredients

  • 1 roast (beef)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp [[19459024 grainy mustard
  • 1 tablespoon strawberry jam
  • 2 teaspoons garlic paste

Method

  • STEP 1 Preheat oven to 210C.
  • STEP 2 Mix mustard, jam and garlic together in a cup and roasted baste everything with a spoon.
  • STEP 3 coat the bottom of a baking dish with oil.
  • Step 4 Place roast in a pan and cook for about 20 minutes to seal the outside.
  • STEP 5 Reduce the temperature to 140-150C and slow broil for about 4-5 hours. For more rare beef, cook for less time.
  • STEP 6 Remove from oven and let stand for 15 minutes.

Notes

You can use this recipe for roast lamb, but I put about a teaspoon of rosemary in the marinade well. I always do my pan gravy with chunks and gravy powder, red wine, etc. Vegemite but discard the oil from the pan.
