Ingredients

  • 4 slices buttered bread
  • 60 g sultana
  • 2 egg
  • 350 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 TBS sugar

Method

  • STEP 1 Remove the crust from the bread and cut into squares or triangles.
  • STEP 2 Arrange in a dish of cake with raisins.
  • STEP 3 Beat eggs, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and heated milk.
  • Step 4 Pour the mixture over the bread.
  • STEP 5 Let stand for 30 minutes (optional).
  • STEP 6 Sprinkle with added sugar and nutmeg or cinnamon.
  • STEP 7 Bake for 1 hour at 180 ° C.

Notes

Do not cook too quickly as the custard may curdle or become watery. You can also substitute raisins for another dried fruit of your choice or try a mixture such as apple and pear, peach and pineapple or maybe even apricots (just for something different).
